Carlisle - The Basement - UK

Carlisle// 18-11-2006// The Basement// UK

I played in Carlisle a few months back at The Basement and I really enjoyed it, the vibe was nice and the people were rocking. This time, the gig was moved to a new venue called Concrete and it was even better than last time…

Its always colder up norff, but boy was I under-prepared for the Newcastle chill – it was cooold. We didn’t even manage to leave the hotel for dinner we were so frozen so the heating from the car to drive down to Carlisle from Newcastle was much loved!!

When we got to the entrance a very over enthusiastic bouncer pushed through the crowd to get me through, a bit unnecessary but more funny than anything bad. He also told me “anyone gives you hassle, you come to me”, ha!

The warm up DJ Ki Creighton was pretty hot, he layed down the right tunes and the crowd were already in full swing. The venue is pretty underground, with low ceilings – it reminds me of my little other home Cosmo Bar in Clerkenwell London which was nice.

So I got on and the crowd went crazy, rocking every tune till the end. Put your hands up, Cosmo Bar (named after the bar of course) and naturally my Lollipop tune made them go insane. Thanks to the guys at the front for flashing their messages on their mobiles to me!

I was meant to play 4 hours but me being me and the place still packed I played till just after 5. A girl started to sweep the floor inbetween the party animals dancing! The owner told me to shut it down in the end, so I had to but it was a really great night. With that dirty underground, its all about the music type vibe. All good!! SR
