Sofia NYE// 30-12-2006// Club Yalta// Bulgaria
We arrived in Sofia on the eve of Bulgaria joining the EU and the country was in high spirits.
Having spent the day soaking in the city, we noticed every corner and every traffic stop had a poster of the night – with Sandy’s photo on – we renamed Sofia “Sofia Rivera”. We’d never seen so many fly-posters for a party, the finale being a huge billboard poster on top of Club Yalta – amazing!
So we decided we had to check out the New Year celebrations that Sofia were putting on for the city in the main square before Sandy was due to play at 2am and it was pure magic. A huge amount of fireworks, laserlights, music and shows, though it was freezing outside it was just perfect!
Then we raced through the city to the club and it was jam packed. We chilled downstairs in the loungebar catching up with Polly and the rest of the Yalta gang who are now good friends-thanks for the Christmas gifts!
Sandy played an amazing set – it was like being in Space Ibiza, the place was going crazy with every minimal electro track – Bulgarian clubbers sure know their music!
The night flew by and the next thing we knew it was morning and 2007! What a way to enter a new year!
